I feel like we at Pink Tea owe you an entry, but I haven't taken any photos this week. I have rounded the last corner on Siberian's edging and should have that done in about a week. I've done 40 rows on my silk-from-hell faroese shawl, but no pictures. I've done one leg and heel on a sock for Emmy but no pictures.
To make up for my laziness, I will draw your attention to June Oshiro's newly finished wedding lace project. She has been spinning laceweight yarn and knitting this amazing project, and she's finished with one week to spare before her wedding. Isn't it awesome? (The entry is dated September 26th, in case you need to scroll down to see it.)
More knitting content here in a few days, promise.
The born-again socks are finished. Again it's a tough thing to photograph them:
I ended up knitting the toes in some Regia Cotton Color that has essentially all the same shades as the handspun but sort of in inverse proportions - it doesn't look as funny as you might think, and anyway the toes will always be hidden inside clogs while being worn.
I used Vanessa's nifty asymmetrical toe to get a nice fit without 'elf points' as she puts it. I'm worried these will fall down as the ribbing at the top is not as tight as I'd like, even though the rest of the leg is quite trim and fits well. Worst case I suppose I could pick up some stitches around the top edge and knit half an inch of tighter ribbing, in the Regia yarn.
It's nice to have these finished, it completes my process of eradicating what they used to be.
I took the night off from Siberian to finish these, but I have rounded the second corner, so perhaps by the middle of October it will be done.
Ever try to take a picture of the lower half of your legs, from the side? Then I hope you'll forgive this halfbaked attempt to show you my knee socks in progress. I've started knitting from both ends of the ball to really use up every ounce of available yarn before putting on a different color to finish the feet. No one of these pictures is adequate but perhaps all together?
The color is nicer than this picture shows, when I finish them I'll photograph them in natural light to bring out the colors.
Still edging along Siberian Winter, in an other week or so I should be half done the edging. Sorry so few pictures lately but it feels like nothing is progressing. I'm already thinking ahead to my next shell game: "When the socks are done, I can put the Dale cardigan in the work knitting bag, and then I can start Saga Rose at home..."
