Gig Harbor knitting

I had a wonderful time with Madame and Karen at the Gig Harbor retreat. Here are some projects I worked on while there. The bag was done with a technique called Baltic Braids, which is also known as twined knitting. I lined it with denim and think it looks pretty spiffy. Madame MADE me do the beaded cuff. What recourse did I have after she waved the pattern right in front of me and led me to the store where the supplies were laid out? What is a knitter to do? She also is responsible for my starting the sock. She bought the first kit - she started it! It is of very soft machine washable merino wool, and knitting with it is pure pleasure. Once I started I couldn't stop, and finished the whole thing. I am working on the mate, now. The weekend was a soiree, dahling, an absolute divine one at that. Wish you were all there! (Wish I was STILL there!)

Someone very clever rotated the photo! I suspect Madame. Thank you! The yarn is hand-dyed by Myra Hansen for her store - Fancy Image Yarn - that was a vendor at the Gig Harbor retreat. Her yarn is, alas, not available at Two Swans Yarn, but Myra's e-mail is fancyarn@aol.com, and I am sure she would love to hear from you. It really is luscious to work with, the softest smooth worsted weight I have ever used. Usually I like a little texture to my yarn, but I do enjoy knitting with Myra's!

Where did you get the pattern for the bag?
I HAVE to learn baltic braiding!
Gorgeous stuff!

There was no pattern at all. It was a sampler. We started with 80 sts on a size 8 needle in a heavy worsted wt yarn, and changed colors on almost every row, doing the braids and garter stitch alternately. Everyone's bags ended up looking completely different!

Spectacular. Now...what would I do with a beaded cuff? Perhaps be *way* more chic at the grocery store!
