I'm happy to report that I'm knitting again, after a brief hiatus due to my move to L.A. Here's what my sampler looks like now.
Below is a close-up of the latest motif, the Rose Diamond Lace. Sharon Miller warns that it's tricky to knit, and boy, is she right! I really like the result, though. It's basically a more close-worked version of Rose Lace or Rose Trellis. This pattern will need very careful blocking, I think.

Posted by: Sheila on September 18, 2003 01:45 PMBesides being very densely patterned, it was tricky because on some rows the stitches aren't symmetric around the center. Since every row has patterning, this means you have to pay attention to whether you're on an odd or even row (thus whether you're following the chart from left to right or right to left). Also, some rows feature a delayed increase, so your stitch count won't be the same for every row. Not that I've really been counting - I find that the easiest way to make sure I'm not making mistakes is to pay attention to how the stitches on my current row relate to the previous row.
