I fell in love with almost all of the patterns from Jane Sowerby's 'Victorian Lace Today' and decided I couldn't possibly be the only person to have done so. Therefore I am starting a knit~along for the book. Now I have never done a knit~along before so hopefully I cover all of the important stuff in this initial posting:
1> When does knitting officially start?
Jan 1st, 2007 to accomodate those who need to get the book, yarn and holidays over with but you don't have to start then. Start whenever you like. This will be a place to show off your handiwork and get help if needed.
2> Do I have to knit a certain pattern?
Pick anything from the book. Anything at all and you can join.
3> When does the knit~ along end?
Hey I am all against deadlines. Finish when you want. There are, after all, 39 patterns that I am counting to pick from. Probably more since I did a quick look see. You don't have to knit just one!
4> Do I have to have my own blog?
Nope. Sign up and you can blog here. If you do have a blog I will link to your blog but you will get a user name and password to access this site for uploading photos and talking about your progress.
5> Requisite drawings: It seems as if one cannot have a knit~along without prizes so I will draw a name from a hat at the end of each month and send out a pressie. You don't have to finish first or knit the most or anything like that. Just join and hey your entered into the drawing. Ummm I kinda expect you to be participating as in posting
6> Sounds good~ how do I join?
Leave a comment and I will reply with user name and password plus address to access this site on Movable type. I will be gone from Weds morning to Sunday night for Thankgiving so if I don't reply right away thats why. And you can join anytime you want. Even if the start day has passed.
Is there anything I forgot? Let me know and hey sign ups are open!

I'll join! I already started "Stripes and Torchon Lace" this afternoon, but will be going pretty slowly when the older kid is out of school, so probably won't be very far once things officially get going. :-)

Count me in - though I really don't need ANOTHER lace project on the go (Sharon Miller's Princess Shawl and Faina's Forest Path Stole are current WIPs). Almost certainly that white one on the pback cover whose name I have forgotten.

I'm in. I don't have the book yet but I will certainly put that on my Christmas list. The previews I have seen online look pretty nice.

Yay! A KAL that I think I'll love that starts in the new year!
Count me in, too. I love almost all the designs in the book...
...and I appreciate your attitude towards non-bloggers, too, of which I am one. _Usually_I feel like a little unwanted third-world country. lol

I am a fairly novice lace knitter, but have the book and love some of the patterns. Maybe with some support, I could actually do one!

I have had the book,Victorian Lace" for two weeks now and I still look at it every night.

I have spent most of this year accumulating yarn, not knitting, and need to pick up the needles more often! I have lots of laceweight and I LOVE this book, and am looking forward to knitting along with everyone else. I think my first project might be the Curved Shawl with Diamond Edging...I even think I will do this is practically the same color as in the book.

Me too! I can't get the Alpine knit scarf off my mind. I am flying through the rest of my Christmas knitting to get to this.

I would like to join this group but I need help as to what we do to get the postings and how to post to this group. I do not really understand blogs but I have read many and enjoy them very much. It does however get me off course on my knitting!

OK...I wasn't going to buy this book. I don't need another lace book (it's now on its way to me).
I don't do well in KALs (I kind of drop by the wayside). But I want in on this one.
