Charming

Tonight I went out to see Ms Steph at a reading/book signing thingamabob. The library was totally unprepared for the mass of knitters and sold out of books half an hour before the talk began. Seats were gone even sooner. I did manage to snag myself some books tho I ended up on the floor. Being unprepared must be my middle name cause after I picked out the WIP to go, searched high and low for a tape measure[needle gauge with ruler along side tucked into back pocket when tm not found], shower taken, books gathered up, cell phone fully charged for pic taking capabilities and emergencies I ran out of the house with nothing. Well the shower and tape measure in back pocket made it. sigh So anyway I had a good time but there are no pictures to show or knitting progress for that matter. I do feel my little nonknitting cloud lifting tho due entirely to the hubster suggesting counceling cause he misses me. Sweet. Anyway back to point~ I don't think I have read a blog which mentioned how Steph kinda he he hes during her lectures. A soft almost under the breath chuckle that kinda squeeks out. Like a newborn's laughter. I cannot explain it but so totally charming. If you get the chance go hear for yourself.

yarny days and knitterly evenings

Last of the Repairs

I finally finished a sweater I was repairing. I thought I was finished last month but when I went to drop it off I found 3 more teeny holes. In odd places for holes to be. Well the ribbing but along the side. Guess I should add don't ever ever ever carry sharp stuff on your belt loops or in pocket that can snag your knits. I then washed the sweater and its tons softer than before. It's amazing the difference in how the fabric feels after a proper bath. I didn't photograph it yesterday cause it was still wet and I spazzed on taking the picture today. I will try and get a picture in tomorrow. A lovely red cabled sweater from decades ago. OK toodles

Still thinking

ACK! Sockapaloooza is gonna be due soon. I looked at my handpainted, handspun, handknit single sock and decided I didn't like it. 3 weeks and counting peeps. But I am almost done with my Jaywalkers. Is it cheating to send my sock pal the jays? We share sock size and she said erm let me look so I get it exactly right: Please don't let her be checking and recognize her words

vibrant blues, greens, and warm browns. No socks with pale colors, neon colors, or a great deal of yellow

Actually come to think of it thats close to what I said. I personally do not mind neons. I think the jays would look good with jeans or chinos which are my usual bottoms. There is blue, green, black, and tan in them. Reminder pic:

Do you think these work? The blue and greens are vibrant but not as vibrant as the last pair~ which bordered on neon tyvm and I consider the tan to be warm. Not flat and icky. Is this cheating? There are 1000's of sock pals out there the odds my recipient will read these words are extreemly slim. I hope. Anyway I think I am gonna try and finish these up and then work on another pair but I want to have these as back up. Cus I really don't feel much like knitting right now and know that there is a very high chance of not finishing a brand spanking new pair.

Contemplating Horses

First I would like to thank everybody for the birthday wishes. I rudely didn't reply to anybody cause I was a bit overwhelmed. Your comments and emails are greatly appreciated.

I am not quite back in the saddle yet when it comes to fibery goodness but I am contemplating the horse. About time too~ work is starting to pile up and I know, from experience, that if I get too much on my plate I make like an ostrich. I tend to keep my work stuff in boxes around my chair and there have been times when I couldn't even get to my chair! And when I did move this box on top of that box to get into chair my mind was so frazzled by the boxes I threw up my hands. Anyway enough of my poor organizational [and housekeeping] skills! Elka opened a box. Woo hoo. And what was in the box? A scarf. A finished! scarf. Needing only to be blocked and mailed. Done blocking and mailing. A picture of the FO:

This is a version of Myrna Stahman's Seaman's Scarf designed for K1C2. The neck ribbing:

The pattern was designed to bring attention to those harmed by Drunk Drivers and originally called for Richesse et Soie. K1C2 no longer carries this yarn but has a lovely new fingering weight called Ambrosia. It really is a wonderful yarn. I don't see the pattern on their website but it is called Kathy's Scarf{ I think } If anybody is anxious to order the pattern for themselves I will look up the official name and number.

Toodles and you know the drill~ yarny days and knitterly evening....

Untitled number who knows

I popped into several blogs tonight and it seems that there is a general malaise going around. Peeps are apologizing for not blogging as if one is required, by law, to do a daily journal entry. Comon if it were a notebook you wouldn't be tripping over yourselves with the apologies. It's cause it's public right? I personally don't feel I owe my blog readers anything. Especially given that I am not that interesting IMO but I do appreciate comments and help offered. Guess what?

It's my birthday...

Guess what else?

I am getting a divorce. No make that a legal seperation.

I don't owe anybody any apologies for not writing about the joys of becoming a single unemployed mother of 3 wee ones[ages 3-10 for those who don't pay any attention] at the tender age of 41. And I certainly am not gonna ask anybody for forgiveness for not reading or writing or thinking or even doing anything fibery at the moment.

Happy Birthday Me
