IK cover shot hoxbro project.jpg
I stayed up very late every night this weekend in hopes of finishing my blue shawl but alas and alack no. Sometime later this week it *should* be done. Until then I am contemplating my next major project-the cover sweater from IK Spring '97 designed by Vivian Hoxbro. I have liked this sweater since the issue first came out and socked away the yarns called for:hoxbro colors.jpg
After many times starting this sweater I decided I don't particularly care for light seafoamy blue color. I thought, when collecting the yarns, the acid was icky but have fallen in love with it in conjuncture with all the other colors. Definitely the pale blue is the one giving me the willies. I am also one of those color unsure type of knitters. So please give me your take on these two other alternate colorways I have come up with. NOTE the yarns in the color alternates were discontinued long before Hoxbro sat down to combine her color combo. They come from the Rowan Donegal Brights range:hoxbro alt color 1.jpg
or the even longer gone Rowan Light Tweed range:hoxbro alt color 2.jpg

PLEASE PLEASE shout out. Thanks

Bottom combo miss Elka, at least for me, but a swatch too look at would be very handy.

I'm so demanding

Definitely the bottom. The bright turquoise doesn't seem to belong. The tweeds on the bottom all complement each other--you will post your swatch?

I like the bottom one as well...Swatch tho...ggg
seems like those light blues clash with the lovely greens...I think

Nice blog too

I'm a newbie to blogreading and am enjoying yours. Would never pass on an opportunity to give a color opinion!

I too like the bottom but I would definitely swatch. I am also thinking you may want to keep the substitute color a non-tweed to retain the crispness of the original design (especially now that the blueish and greenish yarns are very similar in value).

I would prefer the bottom combo; allthough I really love the original seafoam colour. Which yarns are these? Please tell. They look really great.

Bottom. Turquoise really stands out too much in the top one, but swatch it!

I guess it's unanimous. I like the bottom combo too. All those colors work well in harmony. I guess, since I'm a color designer (I do personal color palettes) that's my professional as well as personal opinion. Can't wait to see this all put together!
