Socks

I was going to knit all weekend. I didn't. I played games all weekend and tried to ignore everything else. I did get the code for work up to just putting it together (which I will do in about 1/2 hour tomorrow morning).

I did knit a bit. My light switch by the chair was still broken, so I didn't finish the second girly/girl sock (which I decreased a stitch on that I probably shouldn't have decreased. Luckily, it is on the sole, and nobody will ever see it. The sock is at the heel flap, and the sole yarn is sort of splitty - so I decided to put it off until I got my light back. mg fixed it this afternoon.

What I did was start another pair of socks in LynnH's sock yarn. I am pretty sure this is built on Louet - the yarn is pretty thick (but absolutely beautiful). I had to start them twice - and I had to change needle size midway in the first try. I almost always knit socks on 2 mm needles - I went up a size for these socks.

I then had to rip the sock because IT WAS TOO DAMN WIDE . You know, I was a math minor. I should be able to realize that if a 60 stitch sock on #0 needles fits perfectly, a 60 stitch sock on a bigger needle is going to be too damn big. Well, I didn't. I have decided to drop 8 stitches for the foot - this should be ok.

I was going to start LisaS's garnet SOCK but I couldn't find it in the sock box without the light.

I am still reading. I consider reading is just as important as knitting, more so in my current mood.

Oh yah, do not work on a lace shawl in black laceweight while your husband is driving you through traffic. The shawl is leaving my purse and being replaced by this damn sock as soon as I finish the toe. Luckily, the acres olf garter stitch shawl is sitting in his car, and I can do two rows on the trip to work. 1 1/2 on the trip home - but that is in the dark.
