Reading
I have been knitting some every day (although not on some stuff that HAS TO GET DONE). But, mostly, my copious spare time has been spent reading. I was reading Sara Paretsky's newest when she turned me on to Lindsey Davis's mysteries. I have also been deep into Angela Thirkell's books (most of my recent reading). I am also reading Kinky Friedman when I sit at the dining room table.
I love Angela Thirkell. Think of Jane Austen mixed with Wodehouse. This is not great literature, it is just stuff I love to read. Her work is a picture of the time she wrote in and the class she was a member of. There are pieces of it that I know are awful (she has a very very skewed view of the working classes), and there are pieces that I love. I also love the absolute lack of brains in most of her upper class characters. These are books that are fun to read, especially seeing that I am having to adjust to my new job. It has been years since I worked with mg. He has me doing stuff I am good at, I just have to get back into gear. I also have to be very careful to not be critical of other's work - I am not the lead here. I can't say that it is possible the design is wrong, I don't know enough about the design.
I am getting at least an hour's worth of knitting everyday (although not any yet today). mg has decided that I simply don't have time to cook with my new schedule (I work best mornings, he works best afternoons, and I will NOT drive in seperately - don't want to waste gas). I went to Wegman's today - and got enough lean cuisine's to at least get us through lunch every day for the next two weeks. I then cleaned out the freezer (and I am working on the refrigerator). I am not going to spend every saturday at the grocery store. It took me nearly 3 hours to do the whole thing, and I felt exhausted and in pain at the end. But, it is a very fun grocery store. Not sure if I want a grocery store to be fun. I do love having a kosher deli in the middle of the store. Kosher deli will always be my comfort food. I got some (very expensive) tongue and good homemade gefilte fish and herring in cream. I guess I will always be a creature of my culture.
I still have to go to Giant tomorrow - but that is to do something at the pharmacy. Probably should buy cat litter also. I also want to do some sys admin on my home computer. Might do it, might not. Might even knit.
Good weekend, that is what it is. Me, my books, my yarn. mg and I are spending a lot of time avoiding each other, we are spending SOOOO much time together.
